Abu Dhabi Statistical Centre announces their re-certification to ISO 27001
Mr Butti Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Director General of the Statistics Centre received the ISO 27001 certificate from Ahmad Al Khatib, General Manager, British Standards Institution (BSI). The Statistic Centre first achieved certification three years ago and has recently re-certified to ISO 27001, the Information Security Management Standard.
Re-certification was successful after they provided a comprehensive set of processes for the risks related to the security of information. The Statistic Centre's aim is to continually improve its security, confidentiality and accuracy of its data, which is why they felt it was very important to certify to a globally recognized international standard.
Mr Butti Ahmed Al Qubaisi,the Director General pointed out that 'it is critical to have correct procedures, mechanisms and policies in place in line with an international standard. Achieving certification is an indicator of our commitment to follow good practices in the field of information security at all levels. The Centre runs a huge database of important and sensitive information, which is collected from multiple sources, therefore it is imperative we have a secure information management system in place'.
The Director General further went on to say that ‘the Centre’s keenness to follow the full range of the latest technological systems in the world, contributes to the production of better statistical outputs. ISO 27001 helps to achieve the objectives of the Statistical Centre, it provides us with a better quality of data, gives us a competitive advantage, helps to support and promote the center's plans for modernization and the development in the deployment of security. Our aim is to continually improve year on year in order to achieve success’.
